Dr. David Creech


Professor of Horticulture - Horticulture. B.S., Horticulture, Texas A&M University,1970; M.S., Horticulture, Colorado State University, 1972; Ph.D., Texas A&M University, 1978.

Dr. Creech has been at Stephen F. Austin State University since September, 1978. He is in a 100% teaching position, 12 month appointment. Teaching responsibilities include Horticulture courses in Introductory Crop Science, Fruit and Vegetable Production, Greenhouse Management, Landscape Plant Materials I and II, Plant Propagation, Nursery Management, Public Garden Management, and Computer-Assisted Design I and II. Dr. Creech is the Faculty Advisor for the Horticulture Club.

His research effort has focused on blueberry germplasm evaluation as a part of the USDA Southern Region Blueberry Germplasm Evaluation program, rabbiteye blueberry nutrition and culture, endangered plants conservation and reintroduction, and CAD/GIS applications in urban horticulture. He has enjoyed 8 international consultancies since 1981 to Pakistan, Guatemala, and Nepal. Dr. Creech was president of the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT), 1991-1992, a 1,900 member, 31 chapter organization dedicated to the conservation, selection, and use of the native plants of Texas.

Dr. Creech is director of the ten acre SFASU Mast Arboretum, an on-campus living garden laboratory for students in forestry, biology, and horticulture, as well as the public.
